ABOUT THE ARTIST
Born in Messina (Sicily), 1978.
Lives and works between Messina and Milan
The artist is from the generation grown in front of the TV: since the infanthood, he was fed with cartoons, advertising, science-fiction movies. As a small NERD from the Eighties, his interests were early turned toward technological knowledge (the artificial brain myth) rather than soccer game and, if games passionate him at all, were those he found, and collected, within the Kinder Surprise eggs. Soon later, the adolescent fell in love with all sorts of metropolitan culture: street art, break dance and Hip Hop music, especially the first electronically sampled sound research. Finally, he focused on the artistic shapes of urban installations and obsessively investigated the iconic language of street signals, thus taking <real> world as a baseline to allude to, and to spill over into, the <art> world, its visions, its deliriums, its truths. Though never oblivious of the early love for science and technologies, this research path allows for a much cherished and purposefully revealing linkage of the art work with a social accent. Inspired by a playful taste, Pulitano nevertheless conveys thoughtful remarks and a proper philosophy of life about the salient topics of his generation’s material and symbolic environment. Like the creative mixes of a visual DJ of sorts, his recycled art works bring to the fullest expression the inexhaustible semantic richness inherent in the human experience. |
