ABOUT THE ARTIST
Born in Siena (Italy), 1965.
Flavia Bigi is an eclectic artist: through her research, disparate media, colour, form, and movement, concur to read the several facets of the same topic. Like the alchemist, she looks for her own philosopher’s stone, for the junction whereby the being and the becoming spill over into each other, and the inherently strong tension between certainty and possibility is recognized and dealt with. As Valery would have it, ‘all is buried and bobs up again’, the real and the fanciful border each other. In a way, her work meticolously dissects, indeed almost vivisects, the material in order to sort out the immaterial; and the target - Truth - legitimates the artist’s pursuit for renewal. |
